2. Wounds with sutures that require removal
It is easy to distinguish this technique from the other one, as you can actually see the sutures. Dr. Tariq never uses non-dissolvable sutures on the outside. Therefore, if you can see them, it means that these are sutures that require removal.

In the first 48 – 72 hours, leave the dressing in place. You can then gently remove it, and you can shower or wash. Make sure that you don’t expose the wound to water too long and too intensively, and that you dry it well after the washing. Use a clean new towel, and don’t rub, just press gently allowing the towel to absorb the water. If you wish, you can disinfect the wound afterwards, but you don’t have to. Good hygiene is enough.
Timing for removal of the sutures
The timing for the removal of the sutures is known at the time of the operation, and the follow-up appointment will in most cases be based on this. There is always a plan, for every wound, and Dr. Tariq knows the plan. If you have any doubts, or if the information did not reach you in a clear way, feel free to send a WhatsApp message.
The general guidelines are:
– face, head or neck: 5 – 7 days
– chest or abdomen: 10 – 12 days
– back: 14 days
– arm, leg, hand or foot: 12 – 14 days
No pain at removal
People often worry that removal of the sutures will be painful, but fortunately, this is not the case. It is painless, you will just feel some tickling sensation, and at most, an occasional very light sting.
